Dear Candy,
It’s difficult for me to believe that I’ve been at Hogwarts for two months, for all these days seem to be a wonderful dream! I still remember the day when I met Sev in our garden, sunshine streaming down on his black hair. Then he smiled lazily and told me I was a witch and so was his mother. Petunia looked frightened, didn’t she?
Sometimes I miss Petunia so much that I can’t help shedding tears, but I don’t think she will be happy to see that, so I try not to be sad anymore. I was sorted in the house Gryffindor, where every one of the first-years was warmly welcomed. Known as the home of the brave, most students here are lively and warm-hearted. I love Gryffindor very much, Candy, but Sev doesn’t, because he is in Slytherin. I told him that if he were sorted in Gryffindor, he would fall in love with it as well.
All of our teachers are witches and wizards, such as Pro. McGonagall, the teacher of Transformation and Pro. Slughorn of Potions. Their classes are really amazing!

Dear Candy,
I’m glad to be back to school! During the summer holidays, I argued with Petunia time and again, for she always said Pro. Dumbledore was a fool and Hogwarts was a school for the oddities… It made me crazy, Candy! Why did Petunia change like that?
This morning, when Sev and I got on the train, a few Slytherin students came to our compartment asking Sev to sit with them in the Slytherins’- I recognized one of them is the prefect of Slytherin, Lucius Malfoy- but Sev told them he wanted to be together with me. When Malfoy saw my scarlet robe lying on the bed, he turned backwards in anger at once. I don’t know why he did so but Sev said it was natural.
The impolite boys we met a year ago are now in Gryffindor, too. All the teachers like Potter and Black very much, but I don’t like them at all, for they usually fight with Slytherins and both of them are keen enthusiast about playing tricks.

Dear Candy,
Do I look terrible today? In the afternoon, Mary got badly hurt after the Potions class. Potter told me that Lestrange, the beater of the Quidditch team of Slytherin cursed Mary behind the back to stop her from taking part in the coming Quidditch match, and he promised he would let him be for it. I warned him not to lose points anymore, but he just gave me a lazy smile, making his hair even messier.
When I got to the hospital wing just now, Mary was still lying there without any feelings. Madam Pomfrey said there was nothing serious, but I’ m still worried. For Mary is my best friend at school, I cannot imagine the life without her at all.
After two years, I’ve already known how difficult for a Muggle-born student to be excellent at Hogwarts, but I’ll not give up my dream of being one of the best witches in England in the future. Then, I can proudly tell them who look down on Muggle-borns that I’m the only witch in my family as well…

Dear Candy,
I regret to have chosen to stay at school for Christmas holidays! I just argued with Sev, because he insisted on making friends with Malfoy and Lestrange, who had an abnormal crush on playing the Dark Magic on some young students. It was the first time we argued, Candy. Finally I left in anger, shutting the door with a snap. I feel sad, Candy, for we have been friends for six years, but he never think of me…
What surprises me is that Potter, as well as Lupin, Pettigrew and Black decided to stay at Hogwarts, too. Mary told me that they called themselves the Marauders, and she said she thought Potter fancied me. Truly, after he saved Sev’s life, he has become less annoying than before, but I still think Mary’s mind is going, isn’t it?
Try to think about it! Since the day we met, Potter has never stopped playing his fool tricks on me… Just two days ago, he gave me a bouquet of lilies with a toad hiding in! How disgusting it is!

Dear Candy,
What a miserable day! Mary said time would soften all the memories, but I can’t help feeling terribly hurt, Candy. I’ll never talk to Severus Snape again, never. His thought that I will never get angry with him is tremendously ridiculous!
Do you remember the day I met him? During the long summer, Severus tried his best to tell me everything about the Magical World, about Hogwarts, the unicorns and the Dementors… Sometimes we imagined ourselves having been at Hogwarts for several years, raising a ‘wand’ and pointing it at the splendid sun. Hearing I was glad to go to Hogwarts with him together, he grinned so childishly that I was moved to tears… He told me that there was no difference being Muggle-born, didn’t he?
I should have known it, Candy! If he calls everyone of my birth a Mudblood, why should I be any different? Why should I imagine that he would change the way he’s chosen, just for me? It was too difficult to be polite, Candy. I remembered I told Potter that he disgusted me, but it was not his fault… Should I explain to him that I didn’t really mean that?

Dear Candy,
I received quite a swarm of gifts on my sixteenth birthday! The one I love the most is the miniature of the last year’s Quidditch Final from Mary, for she made it all by herself. Mom and Dad sent me a large parcel filled with sweets, and I received a beautiful card with music from Tuney as well, though she had written nothing.
Severus gave me a tiny bottle of Felix Felicis, which made me feel grief mingled with joy, Candy. I remembered that he had promised to compound it for me a few years ago, when we were young and supposed to be best friends. Now, the potion serves as such an impressive reminder of the days we had! I wonder, Candy, if it can really bring me luck, helping me forget all the past… And my house-elf friend, Rhyme, also gave me a bottle of potion. Taking off the lid, I can smell the subtle aroma of freshly baked bread and new parchment, made very cheerful.
Potter, who was prepared for the coming Quidditch match, gave me a bunch of wild flowers without saying anything. Candy, frankly speaking, it surprised me very much…

Dear Candy,
Time passes by! I can’t believe that we are about to say goodbye to Hogwarts. In two weeks, we will leave here for ever! Only Mary is going to stay, for she can do so well in Defense Against The Dark Arts that she has been engaged as a professor. I want to be a teacher here as well, but there is something more important.
Because of the man named as Voldemort, this world is becoming increasingly more dangerous. Voldemort, as well as his Death-eaters, enjoys playing Dark Arts and hundreds of innocent people get hurt every day. Most of us are used to call him as You-know-who, for he made his name as a Taboo, that if anyone says that the Death-eaters will know at once, rushing to attack the person.
Last summer holiday, when mom asked me to go back to the Muggle World after graduate, I hesitated. But now I understand, Candy, that I won’t go anywhere, for this is my world, our world, and I’ll stay here fighting for a better life…

Dear Candy,
James got terribly injured, Candy. One day I will break her evil wand, that Bellatrix Black! Yet I haven’t seen Sirius who was filled with guilt, locking himself in the dark loft. Remus told me that they only saw a jam of purple light hitting him on the left shoulder from the backwards and James fell down like a tree… He told me not to worry, for Madam Pomfrey could easily cure him well, but Candy I can’t!
Merlin blesses, how dare they do that? How dare they do that to James Potter! Candy, after all this time, now I really realize how much I love him, who I can’t imagine living without, and how precious his love is to me. These days, Candy, my Patronus has turned into a silver doe. Can you believe that?
I feel especially hurt to think Severus Snape is among the crude, crazy Death-eaters, Candy. It seems that wasn’t before long we were sitting under the tree in blossoms, talking about the kind wizards, the clever owls and the wonderful broomsticks, but now I have to remember that he has been one of our enemies!

I don’t know how to express my feeling to you now, Candy, my dear. Do you remember the sentence I love the most, which was said by the great French writer, V. Hugo? ‘The supreme happiness of life the conviction that we are loved.’ Now I’m so happy that I can’t believe what has just happened, Candy. It seemed like…magic.

In spite of the sustained activities of Voldemort, all things look so beautiful to us!

Candy, my dear, this is the last time to talk so long with you, for I’m no longer a young girl but a woman, a wife and a mother of our babies.
