《Harry Potter》全面资料(英文)

《Harry Potter》全面资料(英文)

Muggles
Uncle Vernon :Mr. Dursley was the director of a firm called Grunnings, which made drills. He was a big, beefy man with hardly any neck, although he did have a very large mustache.
Aunt Petunia :Mrs. Dursley was thin and blonde and had nearly twice the usual amount of neck, which came in very useful as she spent so much of her time craning over garden fences, spying on the neighbors.
Dudley :Dudley looked a lot like Uncle Vernon. He had a large pink face, not much neck, small, watery blue eyes, and thick blond hair that lay smoothly on his thick, fat head. Aunt Petunia often said that Dudley looked like a baby angel — Harry often said that Dudley looked like a pig in a wig.
Auntie Marge
Yvonne :Mr.Dursley’s friend.
Piers Polkiss :Dudley's best friend. Piers was a scrawny boy with a face like a rat. He was usually the one who held people's arms behind their backs while Dudley hit them
Dennis, Malcolm, and Gordon :Dudley’s friends

Wizards and Witches
James Potter : The tall, thin, black-haired man standing next to her put his arm around her. He wore glasses, and his hair was very untidy. It stuck up at the back, just as Harry's did.
Lily Potter(Lily Evans) : She was a very pretty woman. She had dark red hair and her eyes— her eyes are just like mine, Harry thought, edging a little closer to the glass. Bright green — exactly the same shape, but then he noticed that she was crying; smiling, but crying at the same time.
Harry Potter : He looked even smaller and skinnier than he really was because all he had to wear were old clothes of Dudley's, and Dudley was about four times bigger than he was. Harry had a thin face, knobbly knees, black hair, and bright green eyes. He wore round glasses held together with a lot of Scotch tape because of all the times Dudley had punched him on the nose. The only thing Harry liked about his own appearance was a very thin scar on his forehead that was shaped like a bolt of lightning.
Headmaster Albus Dumbledore :He was tall, thin, and very old, judging by the silver of his hair and beard, which were both long enough to tuck into his belt. He was wearing long robes, a purple cloak that swept the ground, and high-heeled, buckled boots. His blue eyes were light, bright, and sparkling behind half-moon spectacles and his nose was very long and crooked, as though it had been broken at least twice.
Professor Minerva McGonagall : A severe-looking woman who was wearing square glasses exactly the shape of the markings the cat had had around its eyes. She was wearing a cloak, an emerald one. Her black hair was drawn into a tight bun. She looked distinctly ruffled. Transfiguration teacher. Head of Gryffindor House.
Dedalus Diggle
Rubeus Hagrid
: Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. He was almost twice as tall as a normal man and at least five times as wide. He looked simply too big to be allowed, and so wild - long tangles of bushy black hair and beard hid most of his face, he had hands the size of trash can lids, and his feet in their leather boots were like baby dolphins. Hagrid lived in a small wooden house on the edge of the forbidden forest.
Young Sirius Black
Figg
: A mad old lady who lived two streets away. Harry hated it there. The whole house smelled of cabbage and Mrs. Figg made him look at photographs of all the cats she'd ever owned.
the McKinnons, the Bones, the Prewetts
Cornelius Fudge : Minister
Bathilda Bagshot : The writer of A History of Magic
Tom : the old bartender, who was quite bald and looked like a toothless walnut.
Doris Crockford
Professor Quirrell
: A pale young man .One of Harry’s teachers at Hogwarts, who teached Defense Against the Dark Arts in the first year. He was fine while he was studyin' outta books but then he took a year off ter get some firsthand experience.... They say he met vampires in the Black Forest, and there was a nasty bit o' trouble with a hag — never been the same since. Scared of the students, scared of his own subject now.
Draco Malfoy : A boy with a pale, pointed face.He had a bored, drawling voice.
Mr. Ollivander : His wide, pale eyes shining like moons through the gloom of the shop.
Molly Weasley : A plump woman.
Ginny Weasley : A small girl, also red-headed.
Percy Weasley : The Prefect. He had already changed into his billowing black Hogwarts robes, and a shiny silver badge on his chest with the letter P on it.
Fred and George Weasley : The red-haired twins.
Ron Weasley : He was tall, thin, and gangling, with freckles, big hands and feet, and a long nose.
Neville Longbottom : A round-faced boy.
Lee Jordan : A boy with dreadlocks.
Bill Weasley : Bill's in Africa doing something for Gringotts.
Charlie Weasley : Charlie's in Romania studying dragons.
Grindelwald
Nicolas Flamel
: The ancient study of alchemy is concerned with making the Philosopher's Stone, a legendary substance with astonishing powers. The stone will transform any metal into pure gold. It also produces the Elixir of Life, which will make the drinker immortal. There have been many reports of the Philosopher's Stone over the centuries, but the only Stone currently in existence belongs to Mr. Nicolas Flamel, the noted alchemist and opera lover. Mr. Flamel, who celebrated his six hundred and sixty-fifth birthday last year, enjoys a quiet life in Devon with his wife, Perenelle (six hundred and fifty-eight).
Agrippa, Ptolemy, Morgana, Hengist of Woodcroft, Alberic Grunnion, Circe, Paracelsus, Cliodna, and Merlin :Famous witched and wizards.

Professor Snape : A teacher with greasy black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow skin. He teaches Potions, but he doesn't want to — everyone knows he's after Quirrell's job. Knows an awful lot about the Dark Arts. Snape's Head of Slytherin House. He always favors them.
Argus Filch : The caretaker.
Madam Hooch : She had short, gray hair, and yellow eyes like a hawk.
Professor Sprout : She teaches Herbology.
Professor Binns : The teacher of History of Magic, which was the only one taught by a ghost. Professor Binns had been very old indeed when he had fallen asleep in front of the staff room fire and got up next morning to teach, leaving his body behind him.

Oliver Wood : A burly fifth-year boy. Wood's captain of the Gryffindor team.

Spots
Hogwarts : The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rulebreaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup, a great honor.
Gringotts : Wizards' bank. Run by goblins.
Ministry of Magic
The Leaky Cauldron
:It was a tiny, grubby-looking pub.
Diagon Alley
Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions : Madam Malkin was a squat, smiling witch dressed all in mauve.
Eeylops Owl Emporium
Ollivanders
: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C. It was a tiny place, empty except for a single, spindly chair.
King's Cross station

Goods
Money : twenty-nine Knuts to a Sickle and Seventeen silver Sickles to a Galleon.
Wands :
Ten and a quarter inches long, swishy, made of willow. Nice wand for charm work.(Lily Evans)
A mahogany wand. Eleven inches. Pliable. A little more power and excellent for transfiguration.(James Potter)
Thirteen-and-a-half inches. Yew. Powerful wand, very powerful.( Lord Voldemort)
Sixteen inches, rather bendy.(Rubeus Hagrid)
Holly and phoenix feather, eleven inches, nice and supple.(Harry Potter)
Candies :Bettie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, Drooble's Best Blowing Gum, Chocolate Frogs, Pumpkin Pasties, Cauldron Cakes, Licorice Wands
The Sorting Hat : This hat was patched and frayed and extremely dirty.
Remembrall : A glass ball the size of a large marble, which seemed to be full of white smoke. This tells you if there's something you've forgotten to do.
Invisibility cloak :Fluid and silvery gray cloak.
Wizard chess : This was exactly like Muggle chess except that the figures were alive, which made it a lot like directing troops in battle.
The Mirror of Erised :It was a magnificent mirror, as high as the ceiling, with an ornate gold frame, standing on two clawed feet. There was an inscription carved around the top: Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi.

Quidditch : Wizard sport. There are seven players on each side. Three of them are called Chasers. The Chasers throw the Quaffle, a bright red ball about the size of a soccer ball, to each other and try and get it through one of the hoops to score a goal. Ten points every time the Quaffle goes through one of the hoops. There's another player on each side who's called the Keeper. The Keeper have to fly around our hoops and stop the other team from scoring. The Bludgers, two identical balls, jet black and slightly smaller than the red Quaffle, rocket around, trying to knock players off their brooms. That's why you have two Beaters on each team. It's their job to protect their side from the Bludgers and try and knock them toward the other team. Compared with the Quaffle and the Bludgers, the Golden Snitch was tiny, about the size of a large walnut. It was bright gold and had little fluttering silver wings. And it's the most important ball of the lot. It's very hard to catch because it's so fast and difficult to see. It's the Seeker's job to catch it. The Seeker've got to weave in and out of the Chasers, Beaters, Bludgers, and Quaffle to get it before the other team's Seeker, because whichever Seeker catches the Snitch wins his team an extra hundred and fifty points, so they nearly always win. That's why Seekers get fouled so much. A game of Quidditch only ends when the Snitch is caught.
Broomstick :
Nimbus Two Thousand : Sleek and shiny, with a mahogany handle, it had a long tail of neat, straight twigs and Nimbus Two Thousand written in gold near the top.
Comet Two Sixty

还有一个我很喜欢的一段,就是斯内普设下的那一关推理谜语:

Danger lies before you, while safety lies behind,
Two of us will help you, which ever you would find,
One among us seven will let you move ahead,
Another will transport the drinker back instead,
Two among our number hold only nettle wine,
Three of us are killers, waiting bidden in line.
Choose, unless you wish to stay here forevermore,
To help you in your choice, we give you these clues four:
First, however slyly the poison tries to hide
You will always find some on nettle wine's left side;
Second, different are those who stand at either end,
But if you would move onward, neither is your friend;
Third, as you see clearly, all are different size,
Neither dwarf nor giant holds death in their insides;
Fourth, the second left and the second on the right
Are twins once you taste them, though different at first sight.
