讲解：
1. Chill out! 相当于Shut up! chill这个词是作为名词是“寒冷，凉意”的意思，例如：There was a chill in the air this morning. 今天早上寒气袭人。在 He has caught a chill. 这个句子中，chill有“风寒”的意思，所以catch a chill还有take a chill 都可以表示受风寒, 感冒, 着凉。做动词的时候，chill有“冷却, 冷冻”的意思，例如：I put some beer in the ice-box to chill.我把几瓶啤酒放进冰桶里冷冻。另外，chill还有“变冷，觉得冷”的意思，比如：The freezing weather chilled me to the bone. 寒冷的天气使我感到冰冷刺骨。Don't chill their enthusiasm. 不要对他们的热情泼冷水。

　　2. whatcha yelling' for 当中的whatcha 在口语中很普遍，就是 what you are的简略形式，you 在口语当中经常被弱化，例如，I got you 就可以说成I got ya。

　　3. lay back 就是向后靠，当一个人向后靠的时候，就表示他在放松。

　　4. let it be 我们已经讲过很多次了，就是“随它去，不要管它”的意思。could only 表示一种与事实相反的设想，也就是“如果能... ...就好了”。例如：If you could only hear me now. 如果你现在能听见我说话就好了。

　　5. way 这个词除了表示“道路”，还指 “做某事的方法，作风，个人的表现、行为或做事方式”，例如：Stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it. 压力是日常生活中不可分割的一部分，无法逃避。I don't like the way he speaks. 我不喜欢他说话的方式。

　　6. talking to me one on one 一对一的谈话，one on one相当于face-to-face，就是说进行非常私人的谈话。

　　7. go and make things so complicated 当中的go 并没有什么实际的意义，只是用来强调动作性，而且口语中常常把and 省略掉。例如：Go have a look. 去看看吧。make something/something 加上形容词，表示“让某人/某物具有某种性质”，例如：The cat made me uncomfortable. 那只猫让我感觉很不舒服。

　　8. act有“举动，举止”的意思，例如：She acts like a born leader. 她的举止象个天生的领导。act后面还可以直接加上形容词，表示“显得；看上去好象... ...” The dog acted ferocious. 这条狗看上去很凶。

　　9. frustrated在口语当中很常用，指“很累的，很烦的，灰心丧气的”。

　　10. get someone 加上形容词，表示“使某人感觉... ...”。 例如：His words got me more nervous. 他的话让我感觉更紧张了。

　　11. someone/something is like ... ...某人/某物就象... ...例如：They're like sisters. 她们就象姐妹一样亲密。It's not like what you think. 事情不象你想的那样。

　　12. take，表示“接受”，买东西的时候可以说，I will take it. 我就买这个了。Take the pleasure with the pain. 痛并快乐着。

　　13. promise是“诺言，承诺”的意思，He broke his promise and did not write to me. 他不遵守诺言，没给我写信。做动词的时候，常和不定式连用，He has promised to come to see me.他答应要来看我。也可以和that从句连用，She promised her brother that she would buy him the car. 她答应弟弟会给他买那辆车。或者直接加上宾语就可以了，例如：I promise you. 我向你保证。 I can't promise anything now. 现在我还不能承诺任何事情。

　　14. fake，假装，伪装，可以直接加宾语，例如：He faked illness. 他假装生病。当作为名词的时候，表示“假货，赝品”，The painting looked old but was a recent fake. 这幅画看上去年代久远，实际是最近的一幅赝品。

　　15. unannounced在这里做状语。dress up，盛装打扮，She likes to dress up for a party. 她喜欢把自己打扮得漂漂亮亮去参加晚会。dress 用作动词的意思是“穿上衣服”，例如：She returned to the shop the following morning dressed in a fur coat. 第二天上午，她穿着一件皮毛大衣，又来到了这家商店。The man is dressed in blue. 那个男人身穿蓝色衣服。

　　16. strike 或者put on a pose of 装出... ... 样子，pose，造型，摆好姿势，The model posed for a photograph. 模特摆好了照相的姿势。pose还有伪装、装腔作势的意思，例如：He posed as a writer. 他摆出一副作家的样子。She is always posing. 她总是装腔作势。

　　17. take off ，大家知道，是“脱掉衣物”的意思，而put on是“穿上衣物”的意思。 preppy 是指“大学的预科生”，preppy clothes 指美国七八十年代大学生流行的装束，主要以格子呢和斜纹软呢为面料，当时典型的造型就是上身穿格子的V领球衣，下面穿卡其裤，衣角还要塞到裤子里，当然现在看起来是很不合潮流的。

　　18. 这首歌并不是特别描写某一个人。基本上它是一首关于生活、伪装的人们和人际关系的歌曲。
