The first time I read those books about Harry Potter was three or four years ago. I was amazed by the imagination of the writer, J.K. And I disliked Professor Snape as everyone did at the beginning.
Severus Snape is a Potions teacher in Hogwarts. He has wax yellow skin, a big an aquiline nose and a greasy black hair. He wears black large robe all the year. He is neither handsome nor young; he also treats people extremely tight and severe. But I like him and respect him since the first time I really know him.
I like him since he has an air of quiet and pretty manners which belong to the clergyman in Medieval Western. He has the “abstinence” stamp under the rod of Catholicism: the pallid face, little expression, not easily moved in feeling, black fried classical clothes, and black hair. And he seldom express his opinion or open his heart. He refuses to know others and he also refuses others to know him. Snape has a terrible past and he is so lonely. He is really an enigmatic gift to those venturesome romanticists.
The most important reason I respect Snape is he is really a principled person. He always knows what he should do and what he should not do clearly in any case. He hates Harry very much, because several years ago, Harry’s father, James Potter made a joke, which was such a big one to Snape. From then on, Snape hated James in his heart, and he continues to hate Harry after James’ death. He is always finding Harry and his friends’ troubles and laughing at them whenever he could. In sprite of this, he still keeping helping and saving Harry as possible as he could, we can easily find this in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and the latest book Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It must need great courage to rescue a person whom you hate so much. He just keeps allies in line inconsequently and puzzled.
I respect him for he protects his students in his own way without anyone’s attention. In the third film ”Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”, he protects these children behind him without hesitation when Professor Lupin who is a werewolf try to hurt Harry and others in that full-moon night.
I respect him also because of his courage and willpower to betray Voldemort. Snape was a Death Eater several years ago, and he left that fiend when that witch was as powerful as sun. He chose the justice one. He stands in the side of those “hero” even when they disbelief or laugh at him. He is not the typical model of good hero in our mind.
I like and respect Snape no matter how others think oh him. He shows me his delicate and fragile heart, shows me how to deal with love and hate.
