HYMN ONCE IN ROYAL DAVID';S CITY ALL
solo
1
Once in royal David';s city
Stood a lowly cattle shed,
Where a Mother laid her Baby
In a manger for His bed:
Mary was that Mother mild,
Jesus Christ her little Child.
All Please Stand
2
He came down to earth from Heaven,
Who is God and Lord of all,
And His shelter was a stable,
And His cradle was a stall;
With the poor, and mean, and lowly,
Lived on earth our Savior holy.
3
And our eyes at last shall see Him,
Through His own redeeming love,
For that Child so dear and gentle
Is our Lord in Heav’n above,
And He leads His children on
To the place where He is gone
4
Not in that poor lowly stable,
With the oxen standing by,
We shall see Him; but in Heaven,
Set at God’s right hand on high;
Where like stars His children crowned
All in white shall wait around.
Please remain standing for the
CHRISTMASTIDE BIDDING PRAYER
Beloved in Christ, as once more we approach the joyful season of Christmastide, let it be our care and delight to prepare ourselved to hear once again the massage of peace on earth to men of goodwill and in heart and mind to go even unto Bethlehem to see this great thing which has come to pass, and the Babe lying in a manger.
Let us read and mark in Holy Scripture the tale of the loving purposes of God from the promises and prophecies made to the people of the old cocenant until their fulfilment in the glorious Redemption brought us by this Holy Child: and let us make this place glad with our carols and hymns of praise.
But first, let us pray for the needs of the whole world: for peace and goodwill over all the world, and for all those seeking solutions to the problems leading to conflict between the nations: for our soverign lady, Queen Elizabth and all peoples of the British Comoonwealth of Nations:and for unity and brotherhood within the Chirch and He came to build. Especially let us pray for all past and present members of this school community in the tasks and opportynities whih they find before them day by day.
And because this of all things would rejoice his heart, let us remember, in his name, the poor and helpless, the cold, the hungry, and the oppressed, all who have driven from their homes by war or persecution to become refugees:the scik and them that mourn, the lonely and the unloved, the aged and the little children: those who know not the Lord Jesus, or who love him not, or who by sin have grieved his heart of love.
Finally, let us remember before God all those who rejoice with us, but upon another shore, and in a greater light, that multitude which no man can number, whose hope was in the Word made flesh, and with whom in the Lord Jesus we are for ever one.
All these our prayers and praises let us humbly offer up to the throne of Heaven, in the words which our Saviour Himself taught us:
Our Father, who art in Heaven
Hallowed be Thy name,
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trepass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil:
For Thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory,
For ever and ever. Amen

HYMN O COME, O COME EMMANUEL ALL
1
O come, O come, Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear.
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.
2
O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan’s tyranny;
From depths of hell Thy people save,
And give them victory over the grave.
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.
3
O come, Thou Day-spring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here;
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
And death’s dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.
4
O come, O come, thou Lord of might,
Who to Thy tribes on Sinai’s height
In ancient times once gave the law
In cloud and majesty and awe.
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.

HYMN IT CAME UPON THE MIDNIGHT CLEAR ALL
1
It came upon the midnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth,
To touch their harps of gold;
“Peace on the earth, good will to men,
From Heaven’s all gracious King.”
The world in solemn stillness lay,
To hear the angels sing.
2
Still through the cloven skies they come
With peaceful wings unfurled,
And still their heavenly music floats
O’er all the weary world;
Above its sad and lowly plains,
They bend on hovering wing,
And ever over its Babel sounds
The blessèd angels sing.
3
Yet with the woes of sin and strife
The world has suffered long;
Beneath the angel strain have rolled
Two thousand years of wrong;
And man, at war with man, hears not
The love-song which they bring;
O hush the noise, ye men of strife
And hear the angels sing.
4
For lo! the days are hastening on,
By prophet-bards foretold,
When with the ever circling years
Comes round the age of gold;
When peace shall over all the earth
Its ancient splendors fling,
And the whole world send back the song
Which now the angels sing.

HYMN O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM ALL
1
O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.
2
O morning stars, together proclaim the holy birth,
And praises sing to God the King and peace to men on earth!
For Christ is born of Mary and gathered all above,
While mortals slepp, the angels keep their watch of wondering love.
3
How silently, how silently, the wondrous Gift is giv’n;
So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of His Heav’n.
No ear may hear His coming, but in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in.
4
O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel!
