     A psalm of life
Tell me not, in  mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream.
For the soul is dead that slumbens
And things are not what they seem.
Life is real! life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal,
Dust thou art ,to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.
Not enjoyment,and not sorrow.
Is our destined end or way
But to act, that each to-morrow.
Find us farther than to-day.
Art is long,and Time is fleeting
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums,are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.
In the world';s broad field of battle.
In the bivouac of life.
Be not like dumb,driven,cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!
Trust no future, howe';ve pleasant!
Let the dead past bury its dead!
Act, act in the living present!
Heart within, and God o';erhead!
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time,
Footprints,that perhaps another,
Sailing o';er life solemn main,
A forwrn and shipwrieckde brother
Seeing, shall take heart again.
Let us,then, be up and doing
With a heart for any fate.
Still achieving,still pursuing
Learn to labour and to wait.

     本文大意：
              人生颂
     请别用哀伤的诗句对我讲，
     人生啊，无非虚梦一场。
     因为沉睡的灵魂如死一般，
     事物的表里并不一样，
     人生是实在的，人生是热烈的，
     你是尘土，应归于尘土，
     此话指的并不是我们的精神。
     我们的归宿不是欢乐，也不是悲伤，
     实干才是我们的道路，
     每天不断前进，蒸蒸日上。
     光阴易逝而艺海无涯，
     我们的心哪——虽然勇敢坚强，
     却像被布蒙住的铜鼓，
     常把殡葬的哀乐擂响。
     在这人生的宿营地，
     在这辽阔的世界战场，
     别做无言的牲畜任人驱赶，
     做一名英雄好汉立马横枪！
     别相信未来，哪怕未来多么欢乐！
