本周精读课的Duty Report - Placebo&Brian Molko
（通俗点就是课前演讲...时间有限，很多内容放不进去，不过相比主楼那篇还是添入不少他们的趣闻轶事，且为方便听众没有使用复杂词法，有兴趣的不妨一阅~）
Today I'd like to introduce to you one of my favorite bands Placebo, which is composed of three guys: the singer-guitarist Brian Molko, the bass player Stefan Olsdal and the drummer Steve Hewitt.
The band was established in 1994. The first few years were hard, which is common for a new band. Now their music style will be regarded as "brit-pop" or "glam rock". But from day one they never decided what Placebo should sound like. However, no matter how hard it was, Brian had his goal. They released their first album <Placebo> in 1996. The song <Nancy Boy> at that time was a huge hit. After that they quickly became the focus of media as well as the public, which is not only because of their music but also Brian Molko's personal charm.
A friend of mine who's also their fan once said that Brian was one of the most beautiful people she'd ever seen, and that was not an exaggeration. When the guy first appeared before the public, with his guitar and girlish make-up, he could catch each eye around. At that time, almost all the media would use the word [color=purple]"androgynous"[/color] when it came to him. Because of the strong interest in plays and performances, the guy started to put on make-up and nail color when he was 11. When being asked of the reason, his answer was quite simple. [color=purple]"For the same reason why women use it."[/color] he said, [color=purple]"I think I look more attractive with it."[/color] Brian Molko has very clear eyes, the color of which is between light blue and green. He likes using dark-black eye lines, making his eyes even clearer. There used to be a kind of innocence in his eyes.
However, he's not just someone with a nice face. His was gifted with a beautiful voice, sometimes childish, so unique and impressive that it can even make people forget his good look. His voice as well as their music will give people an illusion. It seems to continue after it was turned off, like an endless echo.
After selling out millions of records and several years'growth, the band has become more and more influential. Many people imitate Brian's make-up. Although the three of them will be excited when they see an excited crowd, they will not pay much attention to the media’s reaction. [color=purple]"They make us to break us." [/color]said Brian, after they released the second album. Reporters' attitude could be very changeable, but it wouldn't affect them a lot. No matter what media said, it's certain that their music has grown mature. But Brian Molko is still like a child, frank, impetuous and willful. Although he has gained enough attention, it seemed that he'll never lost interests in giving media something impressive to report. For instance, when a reporter asked each of them to describe the other two, Steve said "My family" and Stefan said "Stars in my eyes." Both of the two were quite normal. But when it turned to Brian, he said [color=purple]"My two husbands." [/color]
14 years have passed since the band was established. Surely Brian no longer dressed himself like a girl now. The long hair was cut. According to what he said in the interview of Rock Sound, since he is over 30 now, dressing up like girls will be ridiculous. But he'll still put on some make-up; he said it made him more comfortable. Brian has changed his look, but he hasn't grown old. His voice hasn't grown old. There must be more surprises in store for fans.

（P.S.提到Brian语不惊人死不休的那些猛料，其中自然少不了他说的他的性向非常不稳定以及媒体热炒的Placebo是一个半gay之类的说法。这一段我写了又删，考虑到总不能对着台下一干人还有老师大肆宣扬他的性向问题，再来句真有拜伦风格啊我太喜欢了吧...:sweat: ）
