Sean Biggerstaff was born on March 15, 1983 to a fireman and a community education worker. He joined a local drama group and he acted as "Augustus Gloop" in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". After that, for six years, he joined the Scottish Youth Theatre. It was there he got his big break when Alan Rickmanasked him be Tom in The Winter Guest(1997). That appearance led to the role of Oliver Wood in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone(2001). He will continue the role of Oliver in the next Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets(2002).

Sean 从五岁开始就有了表演经验.他曾经在英国的国家莎士比亚剧团演出.在那时,他被Alan Rickman发掘,在1997年时,Sean演出了他第一部电影,由他的经纪人Alan导演的"The Winter Guest".他在剧中饰演Tom.在他16岁时,他组了一个乐团,叫"Crambo".他在里面担任主唱和吉他手.在那时,Sean 疯狂的迷恋Areosmith的主唱Stephen Tyler,还曾经想过报名当他的舞者.在1996年时,他还演出了1部电视影集 - "The Crowd Road" .他在剧中饰演Young Darren.但这些都还不及他所参与演出的"哈利波特－神秘的魔法石"(Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone)所给他的影响来的大.Sean饰演剧中的Oliver Wood(奥利佛木透).这个角色也是由他的经记人Alan推荐给导演的.而Alan就是剧中的Pro.
